Paris Saint-Germain are interested in acquiring the services of 28-year-old Chelsea shot-stopper Kepa Arrizabalaga.
According to L’Equipe, Paris Saint-Germain are keen on Kepa Arrizabalaga in their ranks ahead of next season. They are looking to have more competition for their number-one spot and have their eyes set on the Chelsea goalkeeper.
Kepa Arrizabalaga was a part of the Athletic Bilbao youth academy. He came through the ranks at the club and managed to break into the first team at quite a young age. The 28-year-old went from strength to strength while playing for the Spanish club.
His exceptional performances attracted a lot of attention. But, Chelsea managed to win the race for his services and acquired him in a record-breaking €80 million transfer during the summer of 2018.
Arrizabalaga’s time at the English club has been full of ups and downs. From dominating displays on the field to being dropped to the bench, he has seen it all. His contract with the Blues runs until the summer of 2025. But Paris Saint-Germain are ready to prise him away from the club.
PSG already have Italian sensation Gianluigi Donnarumma in their ranks. And, one would think that they are all sorted in the goalkeeping department but their manager Luis Enrique has other thoughts.
He wants to sign another goalkeeper, and the Spanish manager is keen on having intense competition for the number one spot. Enrique is looking for a different profile than the one that he already has. The former Barcelona manager wants to sign a goalkeeper who is good with his feet.
The PSG manager thus has his eyes set on the Chelsea shot-stopper. The two have recently worked together in the Spanish national team as Enrique was their head coach. He has surely seen something in the 28-year-old that he admires. And as a result, he is keen on having him at his disposal.
While Enrique wants him at PSG, there are no concrete details regarding a potential transfer at this point in time. However, if this transfer goes through it will change the landscape of both the team’s goalkeeping situation. While the Blues have been offloading quite a few players of late, it will be interesting to see if they can afford to lose out on Arrizabalaga having already sold Edouard Mendy.
