Liverpool have been linked with a move for 26-year-old Brazilian winger Malcom.

According to a report from Foot Mercato, Liverpool are reportedly keeping tabs on Malcom. The 26-year-old Brazilian winger was in fine form for Zenit St Petersburg this past season.

Malcom scored 26 goals across all competitions last year and he could prove to be an impressive addition to the Liverpool attack.

The Reds have been overly dependent on Mohamed Salah for goals and Malcom could add more quality in the final third.

The 26-year-old operates as the right-sided winger and he will add goals and assist to Jurgen Klopp’s side.

However, a move to Liverpool might not be ideal for the player at this stage of his career. He is unlikely to start ahead of Mohamed Salah at Anfield and he will not want to be a backup option.

The 26-year-old is at the peak of his career and he will look to play regularly at a higher level.

It remains to be seen whether Liverpool can convince the winger to join them without assurances of regular game time.

Meanwhile, Liverpool have been trying to improve their midfield this summer and they have already brought in Alexis Mac Allister and Dominik Szoboszlai.

The Reds will need to improve their defensive options as well.

Liverpool had a disappointing campaign last year and they missed out on Champions League qualification. They will look to make amends next year and get back into the top four once again.

It is imperative that Liverpool improve their squad all across the pitch and they need to invest in a quality central defender as well.

Malcom is unlikely to be a cheap acquisition because of a long-term contract he has with Zenit St Petersburg. The Brazilian has a contract with them until 2027 and he could cost a premium this summer.

A big-money move for the Brazilian winger would not make sense for Liverpool when they have other priorities right now.

Although the Reds have Mohamed Salah and Luis Diaz as their only natural wingers, there are other options who can operate as makeshift wide players if needed.

Klopp must look to prioritise his midfield and defence this Summer.
