Tottenham Hotspur are reportedly considering making a move for Juventus striker Dusan Vlahovic, who is being viewed as a possible replacement for Harry Kane if the England skipper leaves.
Harry Kane could end up leaving Tottenham Hotspur in the coming weeks amid strong links to Bayern Munich And if that happens, Dusan Vlahovic could become a target for Spurs, who have already sounded out the possibility of signing the Juventus striker this summer, according to Football Transfers.
Vlahovic has been linked with a move to the Premier League for a long time now. And almost every top club in the country has been rumoured to be interested in him. Indeed, before he made the reported £70 million switch to Juventus from Fiorentina, a couple of English clubs were keen on him.
Arsenal were the main side in the pursuit, but Tottenham were also mentioned at times. The 23-year-old has been an instrumental player for Juventus when he has been on the pitch, scoring 14 goals in all competitions last season. But they may now need to offload him.
Last season, the Bianconeri were deducted points in Serie A due to breaking Financial Fair Play regulations. Due to that, the sales of some of their star players have been mooted. Vlahovic is surely one of their most saleable assets, and big names have identified that.
As per the report, Tottenham are long-term admirers of the Juventus striker and even had plans to sign him when Manchester City came close to Harry Kane last year. Kane has been linked with a move to Bayern Munich in recent days.
The reigning German champions came back with an improved bid for Kane, having seen their initial bid get rejected. But it is unlikely to change the stance of Tottenham chairman Daniel Levy, who is holding out for a nine-figure sum to even consider selling his star man.
It is a tense situation because Kane, who has only 12 months left on his contract, has made it clear he will not be signing a new deal while the transfer window remains open, having held extensive talks with Thomas Tuchel recently. Should Kane’s move end up happening, securing a deal for the Juventus star could be an ideal solution for the Lilywhites.
So if Juventus are open to cashing in on the centre-forward, Spurs should definitely put themselves at the front of the queue to secure a deal for him. Vlahovic is a player who has the quality to provide another viable scoring option for Ange Postecoglou, based on his Serie A form over the last three years.
Prior to his ten-goal haul during the 2022/23 campaign, the Serbian hitman hammered 45 goals in 67 league starts for Fiorentina and Juventus combined through 2021/22 and 2020/21. Although he has yet to prove himself in England, the quality is there for him to be a prolific Premier League poacher.
Although Spurs would be able to meet Juventus’s asking price, especially after Kane’s sale, it is worth noting that they probably would not be Vlahovic’s club of choice if he gets an offer from a Champions League club, having rejected Arsenal for the same reason when they approached to sign him back when he was scoring goals for fun at Fiorentina.
