Jurgen Klopp wants Liverpool to acquire the services of 22-year-old OGC Nice midfielder Khephren Thuram ahead of next season.
According to a report by Fichajes, Jurgen Klopp is keen on further bolstering his midfield at Liverpool and wants the club to sign Khephren Thuram. The 22-year-old defensive midfielder has done wonders of late and he has been on the radar of the Merseyside club ever since the end of last season.
Thuram came through the ranks at Monaco but failed to establish himself in their first team. And, at quite a young age he decided to join OGC Nice. He made the move to Nice back in the summer of 2019 and hasn’t looked back since.
The 22-year-old has gone from strength to strength. And, his impressive performances have attracted the attention of quite a few clubs. Thuram featured in a total of 48 matches last season and was on the pitch for almost 3800 minutes. He also managed to contribute towards 10 goals.
Thuram’s exceptional performances over the last 12 months have resulted in heavy interest from Liverpool. The Merseyside club were keen on having him in their ranks. However, the price tag set by Nice resulted in them dropping the pursuit.
But, the Reds might be back in the hunt as their boss Jurgen Klopp has asked for the signing. Heading into the transfer window, Liverpool’s priority was to reinforce its midfield and they have already done that with two blockbuster signings.
The Reds have acquired the services of Alexis Mac-Allister and Dominik Szoboszlai. Despite having signed two exceptional midfielders, Klopp is still keen on having further reinforcement as he looks to revive his team.
The German manager wants Liverpool to sign Thuram. The 22-year-old has exceptional defensive abilities and his ball distribution skills are also top-notch. His arrival will help strengthen their rotation and he could even provide cover to the Brazilian Fabinho.
Thuram is not the only player that Klopp wants, the German boss has also asked for the signing of Roméo Lavia. With Southampton relegated to the Championship, they are ready to sell. However, the price is a concern as the Saints look to cash in.
While Klopp is keen on having both Thuram and Lavia in his ranks, it will be interesting to see if he can land either of them given the price tag and the competition for their signatures.
