Real Betis are keen to sign Giovani Lo Celso on loan this summer, but there are many complications with a move for the cash-strapped La Liga side.

According to AS, Real Betis view Giovani Lo Celso as a solid midfield option this summer. The midfielder remains unwanted by Tottenham, who are finding ways to offload the Argentine. Betis may have to endure complicated negotiations to convince Spurs, as they can only afford a loan without any buy option.

Real Betis have been struggling with finances over the last few years, with the club looking to balance out their monetary and sporting ambitions delicately. They have not made any major signings in that period but always looked for bargain deals or loan signings that suit their immediate need.

Their midfield remains a key part of the squad that needs strengthening this summer, but they do not have the funds to carry out quality signings. Hence, they constantly sought moves that suited their purse strings.

The La Liga side wanted to bring Dani Ceballos on a free transfer but were disappointed after the midfielder signed a new deal. Now, they plan on loan deals for players that would improve their standing but may not afford to include a buy option.

Giovani Lo Celso has emerged as a viable option for Betis, who are keen to bring the Argentine back to the club. He left them for Tottenham a few years ago, but his career has not panned out as planned. He has spent the last 18 months with Villarreal and has returned to north London for pre-season.

Tottenham does not have a place for the €32 million midfielder. The club are actively looking for ways to offload him and cull their wage bill. There has been interest from Barcelona earlier, but no agreement was found to send him away.

Barcelona wanted a loan move, but Spurs are keen on selling him outright to generate cash and get rid of the player altogether. Betis are in the chase, but their inability to not commit to a buy option with any conditions might hamper their chances.

There’s no chance of Betis being able to buy the Argentine midfielder at this stage. Hence, any return for Lo Celso to the La Liga side seems improbable in this window. The Spurs man will certainly have a few suitors as the window progresses, but Betis will likely attempt to convince him and his club of a move.
