Arsenal are set to go all out to acquire the services of 19-year-old Romeo Lavia amidst interest from Chelsea and Liverpool.
According to a report by Football Transfers, Arsenal are keen on acquiring the services of Romeo Lavia. While they have already signed Declan Rice, the Gunners are still looking for reinforcement in the centre of the park. The 19-year-old Southampton midfielder was on fire last season and there are quite a few clubs interested in him.
Lavia came through the ranks at Manchester City but failed to break into their first team. And, ahead of the 2022-23 season, the Saints managed to acquire his services. Despite his team’s struggle., the Belgian international managed to put in consistent performances throughout last season.
He featured in a total of 34 matches for the Saints’ first team and was on the pitch for close to 2500 minutes. The 19-year-old’s impressive performances have caught the eyes of quite a few clubs in England.
The likes of Arsenal, Chelsea, and Liverpool are all keen on having the former Manchester City player in their ranks. The Blues are looking to strengthen their midfield, they have already offloaded a few of their senior players and are in search of younger options.
With N’Golo Kante no longer a part of the club, the Blues are looking to push for the signatures of Lavia as a potential replacement. Meanwhile, Liverpool are trying to complete a midfield overhaul. They have already signed Alexis Mac Allister and are now keen on having Lavia in their ranks.
Jurgen Klopp is looking to sign someone who can provide cover for Fabinho as well as start alongside the Brazilian. And, the 19-year-old seems to fit the bill. With Chelsea and Liverpool keen on signing Lavia, Arsenal are looking to push as hard as possible.
The Gunners want to come out on top in the race for the Belgian international’s signatures. They have a great relationship with Lavia’s agent and they believe it can give them an edge in their pursuit.
Despite having signed Rice, Arteta is keen on further reinforcement. And, with Thomas Partey looking to leave and Granit Xhaka’s future uncertain, pushing for the 19-year-old does make sense. However, they will have to battle it out with Chelsea and Liverpool to secure his services.
