Tottenham wants Ollie Watkins to replace Harry Kane

Tottenham Hotspur are pushing for the signatures of 27-year-old Aston Villa striker Ollie Watkins as they look to replace Harry Kane.

According to a report by Fichajes, Tottenham Hotspur are interested in acquiring the services of Ollie Watkins. The 27-year-old has been in fine form of late, and Spurs are looking to push for his signatures amidst uncertainty around Harry Kane’s future.

The 29-year-old England international could join Bayern Munich in the coming weeks. The German giants have already agreed on a deal in principle with Kane. And they have been negotiating with Spurs of late. While their first bid was rejected, they are all set to put forward another offer.

With just a year left on Kane’s contract, the London club are seriously considering letting him leave for the right price. If he ends up leaving, there will be a huge void in their attack, and they have already started looking for potential replacements.

The 27-year-old Aston Villa forward is one of their targets. Watkins has been doing great since joining Villa from Brentford back in the summer of 2020. The amount of interest in his services is quite understandable, given his consistent performances.

As far as the recently concluded season is concerned, the English forward managed to contribute towards 22 goals in his 40 outings. He found the back of the net on 16 occasions and also registered six assists.

The 27-year-old was on fire towards the end of the last season. And, his performances caught the eyes of Ange Postecoglou’s team, who are looking to reinforce themselves ahead of next season.

While Watkins’ contract runs until the summer of 2025, Unai Emery could still consider letting him leave. However, Villa will first have to ensure that they have a replacement sorted before selling their star striker.

If Kane ends up leaving, Spurs will have no choice but to go all out for the 27-year-old. While Villa are ready to part ways with the English forward for the right price, Spurs will have to compete with other clubs for his services. The likes of Manchester United and Newcastle United could make their lives difficult.
