Manchester United have reportedly named their price for club captain Harry Maguire, who is attracting major interest from Tottenham Hotspur this summer.

According to Daily Mail, Manchester United are willing to sell defender and captain Harry Maguire, linked with Tottenham Hotspur in the summer transfer window, if they can recoup £40 million for him.

Erik ten Hag wants to build on a successful debut season at Old Trafford, which saw his side lift the Carabao Cup and qualify for the Champions League. A new striker, midfielder, and goalkeeper are his top priorities, with the likes of Harry Kane, Mason Mount, and Andre Onana heavily linked.

However, after heavy spending last summer, the Financial Fair Play constraints are poised to limit Manchester United’s budget to around £120 million, which is one of the reasons the Red Devils have refused to pay Chelsea’s asking price of £65 million for top midfield target Mason Mount.

As such, the Red Devils are willing to listen to offers for 12 of their stars as they look to boost manager Erik ten Hag’s transfer kitty, with wonderkid Zidane Iqbal already set to leave for Dutch side Utrecht. Mail Sport have also now revealed how much Manchester United would ask for each player on the transfer list and which ones they are eager to offload.

They report that Donny van de Beek, Fred, and Anthony Elanga are all up for grabs for £20 million each, while fringe defenders Alex Telles, Eric Bailly, and Brandon Williams will be allowed to leave for a combined £17 million. Surprisingly, Manchester United are content to hold onto captain Harry Maguire and will not actively try to push the 57-cap England international out of Old Trafford.

It was thought that Maguire would be one of the first out the door with the centre-back out of favour with Ten Hag. But it seems the club will only cash in on the experienced defender if they get as much as half of the record £80 million they spent on him to land him from Leicester City in the first place.

Tottenham are interested in making a move for the England defender. It is suggested that talks have opened between the North London side and Manchester United. However, a deal looks somewhat difficult to complete given Maguire’s huge wages that he earns in Manchester, worth a reported £200,000 a week.

There have also been conflicting reports that Maguire is reluctant to leave Manchester United this summer, even though the lack of game time could cost him his place in Gareth Southgate’s Three Lions set-up ahead of the upcoming European Championship.

Several other Premier League clubs had also taken a keen interest in Maguire, including Aston Villa and West Ham United. But may not be willing to dish out United’s asking price. There’s still a lot of value to be had in signing the 30-year-old defender, who has not been at his best at United but has played well for England on the international stage.
