Manchester United ready to offer €6 million-a-year deal to Andre Onana

Manchester United are preparing a bumper, double-your-money contract offer for Andre Onana as they look to finalise personal terms.

According to Gazzetta dello Sport, Manchester United are prepared to double the salary of Andre Onana if he moves to Old Trafford. Erik ten Hag wants a new goalkeeper to replace David de Gea, with the Inter Milan star emerging as the primary target for the Dutchman.

The goalkeeping situation at Manchester United calls for immediate attention. For months speculation regarding David de Gea’s future has given out mixed messages. In fact, the Spaniard was reportedly close to signing a new deal and taking a massive pay cut. But that has not happened.

A report in The Athletic claimed he had already signed it, but Manchester United pulled the offer from the table. De Gea will likely depart after June 30 as things stand, leaving a void for the club to fill between the sticks.

While there were links to Leeds United star Illan Meslier, ten Hag may have other priorities. As it stands, Andre Onana is Manchester United’s main goalkeeping target for the summer. After a solitary season at Inter Milan, there is plenty of speculation about the Cameroonian moving clubs.

Manchester United are in pole position for Onana, who also attracted Chelsea’s attention earlier. The Red Devils are the sole participant in the race but will have to agree on a big fee with Inter Milan to sign the keeper.

Inter Milan reportedly want €50 million, which Manchester United are ready to pay. They have also proposed a bumper salary package for the Cameroonian. The Red Devils are ready to offer a double-your-money contract taking Onana’s salary to €6 million from his current €3 million wages.

While it may sound enticing for the player, he will also get the chance to showcase his talents on English shores. A reunion with Ten Hag will also become a key factor for Onana in choosing Manchester United on top of the double-your-money contract on offer.

All Manchester United must do is agree on a sizeable fee with Inter. Onana will cost a lot, but it also seems like a big investment for the long-term future of the No.1 position at Old Trafford.
