Liverpool are interested in acquiring the services of 21-year-old Rennes winger Jeremy Doku ahead of next season.
According to Mohamed Toubache-Ter, Liverpool want to have Jeremy Doku in their ranks. The 21-year-old Rennes winger has done wonders of late, and there is quite a lot of interest in his services from across Europe.
Doku came through the ranks at RSC Anderlecht before joining French club Rennes back in October 2020. The Belgian international has not looked back since arriving in France. He has produced exceptional performances on a consistent basis.
As far as the recently-concluded season is concerned, the 21-year-old featured in a total of 35 matches and was on the pitch for just over 1,500 minutes. Despite having limited game time, he managed to score seven goals and created another four for his teammates.
His impressive performances have resulted in a lot of interest from some of the biggest clubs. While he still has two years left on his deal with the French club, there are high chances he could be on his way to a bigger club this summer itself.
Liverpool are one of the clubs keen on having the 21-year-old in their ranks. The Merseyside club struggled throughout last season and are now looking to bolster their squad to ensure that they can bounce back.
Their priority might to be complete an overhaul in the centre of the park and they have already acquired Alexis Mac Allister from Brighton & Hove Albion. And, Liverpool are pushing for a few more midfielders.
Meanwhile, Jurgen Klopp is also looking for a young attacker. The German manager is on the look for someone who can provide cover for Mohamed Salah and eventually replace the Egyptian star on the right flank a few years down the line.
Doku has the pace and the skills needed to fit into Klopp’s system. And, according to Toubache-Ter the interest from the Merseyside club is very strong. They are expected to make moves in the near future. And, given the quality and recent performances of the 21-year-old pushing for his services does make sense. However, they might face a lot of competition from elsewhere.
