Crystal Palace have made a €25 million offer to sign Perr Schuurs, with the Torino defender open, but they are waiting on more proposals.
According to TuttoMercatoWeb, Crystal Palace have lodged a €25 million offer to sign Perr Schuurs. After an impressive season, the Torino man has plenty of interest from Italian and English sides. He could open his doors over a move to the Eagles but might wait for a while before deciding.
Perr Schuurs has caught the attention of some of the top clubs after an impressive season with Torino. The 23-year-old defender was the bedrock of their backline last season and very much expected to leave on a big move, with heavy interest from Premier League sides.
Currently, Crystal Palace have ramped up their efforts to sign Schuurs. But others were in the hunt previously. The 23-year-old defender also has an interest in AC Milan and Napoli but might prefer to join a Premier League club as the next step in his career.
Newcastle United were keen and as were Liverpool at one point. However, it is Palace who have made a concrete proposal to sign the 23-year-old defender. The Eagles have reportedly offered €25 million to Torino for the centre-back, but there might come a waiting period.
Palace know of the substantial interest in Marc Guehi. The centre-back has been a key player for the team, and losing him will come as a huge blow to their season. Yet, the attention in the England international has cooled in the last few weeks. But things could spring back in after a while.
The London side does not want to waste time securing a defensive reinforcement. They view Schuurs as an ideal addition irrespective of what happens with Guehi. The Torino man remains open to joining Palace but will want to wait for other big clubs to arrive at the table.
There’s a concrete chance of one of the top clubs countering Palace’ offer. The likes of Liverpool and Newcastle United still need a new centre-back, but they are yet to show concrete interest in the 23-year-old defender. Hence, the Torino star could give it a brief moment, but Palace might have taken the lead in the chase.
