Newcastle United are keeping tabs on Perr Schuurs ahead of the summer as they seek a new centre-back in the window.

According to Tutto Mercato Web, Newcastle United are interested in Perr Schuurs ahead of the summer. The 23-year-old Dutchman has performed well with Torino this season and could ponder making a big move to one of the top Premier League sides.

Newcastle United have progressed significantly since Eddie Howe came on board. They have exceeded expectations this season and now remain favourites to finish in the top four. With only a few games to go in the season, top-flight European football could force the Magpies to change their transfer plans or tweak them to suit their needs.

Howe will certainly look to strengthen many key areas of his squad with European football on the horizon. One of the positions is central defence, with the manager keen to add quality depth. The likes of Jamal Lascelles could leave, which would burden Sven Botman and Fabian Schar entirely.

Several high-profile options have been discussed in the media, with Gleison Bremer being one of those linked. The Brazilian defender remains one of the formidable names on their list, but he’s not alone from Serie A. Torino’s 23-year-old Dutchman Perr Schuurs is also a target for Howe. Still, for now, Newcastle continues to keep tabs.

Schuurs has attracted plenty of attention for his performances this season. He has been steady for the team, helping them to a possible mid-table finish this season. Real Madrid are looking at him ahead of the summer, but other teams are in the equation.

Newcastle are not alone in the Premier League, with Liverpool also keen on the 23-year-old Dutchman. Hence, the Magpies have plenty of competition, and if Schuurs decides to leave, they must move fast to secure him. They will continue monitoring him from a distance, with nothing decided regarding his future.

Schuurs has a long-term contract with Torino until 2026, plus the option of an extra year from the club side. Hence, the Serie A side will show no hurry in accepting a deal that undervalues their price point for the 23-year-old Dutchman.
