West Ham United are interested in acquiring the service of 26-year-old Switzerland international Denis Zakaria.

According to Fabrizio Romano, West Ham United are keen on having Denis Zakaria in their ranks ahead of next season. The Hammers are all set to lose out on their star Declan Rice, and the 26-year-old could be a possible replacement despite failing at Chelsea.

Zakaria joined the Blues ahead of the 2022/23 season on loan from Juventus. While he was expected to have a significant role at the club, the 26-year-old failed to impress and was restricted to limited game time.

He featured in only 11 matches and was on the pitch for around 600 minutes. The loan move turned out to be a disaster for the player as well as the club. While there was a buy option in the deal, the Blues did not even consider it.

While his loan move officially expires at the end of the month, Zakaria is already back at Juventus. The Old Lady have had a careful look at the options they have and decided that they don’t need the Borussia Mönchengladbach midfielder anymore.

He is surplus to their requirements, and they are ready to let the 26-year-old leave the club ahead of next season. Meanwhile, West Ham United are a club interested in his services. The Hammers are willing to bet on the Chelsea flop as they believe he can turn things around.

Declan Rice’s departure from West Ham is almost certain, and his exit will leave a huge void that needs to be filled by signing multiple players. And, the Hammers believe that the Swiss defensive midfielder could be one of the players who can help them cope with his absence.

While the Hammers are keen on having him in their ranks, they are not the only ones in the race. There are other top clubs who are ready to bet on Zakaria. Meanwhile, West Ham have requested details regarding the necessary steps they need to take in order to secure a deal for his services.

Zakaria could be a great addition to the West Ham ranks because he is versatile and can feature as a centre-back as well as a central midfielder. But, with numerous clubs after him, it will be interesting to see who comes out on top.
