Newcastle United are reportedly keen on signing Hungarian international midfielder Dominik Szoboszlai.
Dominik Szoboszlai has a release clause of £61 million. And Newcastle United have now opened talks with Bundesliga club RB Leipzig regarding a move. The report from Newcastle World claims that Szoboszlai is next on the Magpies’ shortlist after the capture of Sandro Tonali.
Newcastle United will have to improve their midfield if they want to do well in the UEFA Champions League next season. They will be up against the best teams in Europe, and Bruno Guimaraes is the only top-quality player in the middle of the park right now.
Sandro Tonali is expected to join Newcastle United in the next few days. And the Italian midfielder will certainly add physicality and defensive cover to the side. However, the Tyneside club lack craft and goals from the middle of the park.
The Magpies failed to create too many goals scoring opportunities last season, and they ended up drawing 14 league matches as a result of that. They will need to bring in a quality creator as well. And Szoboszlai certainly fits the profile.
The 22-year-old will help create opportunities for his teammates, and he has a decent goalscoring record himself. The midfielder scored ten goals across all competitions last season, and he managed to pick up 13 assists along the way as well.
The Hungarian is clearly an elite playmaker with a massive future ahead of him, and he could develop into a world-class performer in the coming seasons. If Newcastle United managed to secure his services in the coming weeks, it could prove to be a superb long-term investment.
Szoboszlai has shown his quality in the Bundesliga on a regular basis and he will be hoping to make his mark in the Premier League now. The opportunity to play for an ambitious club like Newcastle United will be an attractive proposition for the midfielder, and he will be hoping to take the next step in his development.
Playing in the Premier League will accelerate his development and help him improve as a player. Furthermore, the 22-year-old is yet to reach his peak and he is likely to improve further in the coming seasons.

The arrivals of Tonali and Szoboszlai will certainly sort out the Newcastle midfield for the foreseeable future. So it remains to be seen whether the Magpies can get both deals done. RB Leipzig have a track record of selling their key players for the right price. And there is no reason why the Bundesliga club won’t sanction the Hungarian’s departure if a lucrative offer is presented.
