Tottenham Hotspur are reportedly set to sign Guglielmo Vicario in a deal worth €19 million in the coming days.

According to Fabrizio Romano, Tottenham have now agreed on a €19 million deal to sign Guglielmo Vicario. The 26-year-old Italian goalkeeper will sign a contract until 2028 with the North Londoners.

Vicario is set to travel to London for his medical now. The 26-year-old was an outstanding performer for Empoli in Serie A last season. So it is no surprise that the top clubs want to sign him. Tottenham are in desperate need of a quality goalkeeper, especially with the way Hugo Lloris performed last season.

The French international is clearly past his peak and will need to be replaced. The 36-year-old’s contract expires next summer. But the veteran goalkeeper will likely leave this year after iterating his desire to embark on a new adventure.

Meanwhile, Vicario will be the first-choice goalkeeper at Tottenham next season. The North London giants wanted to sign David Raya from Brentford initially. But his asking price proved too expensive. Vicario could prove to be a major bargain for the reported €19 million fee.

The 26-year-old is entering his peak years and he could play his best football for Tottenham in the coming seasons. The Italian goalkeeper has the quality to sort out Spurs’ goalkeeping situation for the next decade.

It will be interesting to see if the 26-year-old goalkeeper can settle into English football quickly and make an immediate impact in the Premier League next season. There is no doubt that the Empoli goalkeeper has the quality to thrive in English football. And the fans will be hoping that their new signing can hit the ground running.

Tottenham had a disappointing 2022/23 campaign, as they missed out on UEFA Champions League qualification. Poor performances from Hugo Lloris cost the side a lot of points and Tottenham will be hoping that they can bounce back strongly next season with the right reinforcements.

Spurs have brought in a new manager, and Ange Postecoglou will be expected to get the side back into the top four. The former Celtic manager has attracted a lot of praise for his exploits at the Scottish club, and he will be expected to introduce an exciting attacking brand of football at Tottenham now.
