Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg, the 27-year-old Danish midfielder could part ways with Tottenham Hotspur ahead of next season.
According to Dean Jones via GIVEMESPORT, Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg could leave Tottenham Hotspur in the coming weeks. The 27-year-old’s future has been uncertain of late and he could be shown the exit door by the club.
Hojbjerg arrived at the club back in the summer of 2020 from Southampton. They paid around £15 million to acquire the services of the Denmark international. He had an instant impact on the team and managed to establish himself as a regular in the first team.
The 27-year-old also earned praise from former Spurs manager José Mourinho. Despite being a very simple player, his positioning and intelligence is what sets him apart from the rest. And, his work rate is right up there.
While the team struggled in the 2022-23 season, Hojbjerg did a decent job on an individual level. He was involved in 44 matches and had 12 goal contributions to his name.
Despite being a consistent performer for the London club, he could be shown the exit door because of the team’s overall struggle. Their new manager Ange Postecoglou is looking to sign multiple midfielders ahead of next season and he is willing to sacrifice Hojbjerg.
Jones said: “In terms of Dier and Højbjerg, I don’t know about Dier. I don’t know enough about that, but Højbjerg, for sure, seems like his future is in doubt. And I think it’s probably unlikely that he stays at Tottenham.”
While he is not the first player that the Australian manager would look to sell, the 27-year-old could be part of the change that is expected to take place at Spurs after a disastrous 2022-23 season.
Meanwhile, Bayern Munich are one of the clubs that are interested in acquiring the services of the Denmark international. The German giants are interested in re-signing the central midfielder who was a part of their club from 2012 to 2016.
Thomas Tuchel is looking for a new midfielder who can help them further strengthen his rotation. The 27-year-old is capable enough to play as a central midfielder and as well as a defensive midfielder and his arrival will surely bolster their squad.
