Eric Bailly has been linked with a summer move away from Manchester United, with La Liga club Real Betis keen on signing him.

According to a report by ABC Sevilla via Sport Witness, Manchester United are prepared to get rid of Eric Bailly in the summer transfer window. La Liga club Real Betis are interested in securing the services of the 29-year-old defender.

The former Villarreal defender has struggled to hold down a regular starting berth at Manchester United since completing a €38 million move in 2016. So he needs to leave the club in order to play regular first-team football next season.

Meanwhile, the Red Devils are thought to be looking at other defensive options, including Axel Disasi. So Bailly will fall further down the pecking order if he stays at Old Trafford. Raphael Varane and Lisandro Martinez are currently the first-choice central defenders at the club. In addition, Manchester United could look to bring in more depth this summer.

Along with Eric Bailly, Victor Lindelof and Harry Maguire could find themselves out of the club as well. Apparently Manchester United will enter talks with the Spanish club regarding a deal for Ivorian defender. And it remains to be seen whether the two parties can come to an agreement.

The Ivorian was highly rated around Europe during his time at Villarreal, and he was expected to develop into one of the best defenders around Europe following his move to Manchester United. The player never really managed to live up to the expectations owing to persistent injury problems and inconsistent game time.

He will be looking to get his career back on track with a move away from Old Trafford this summer. But it remains to be seen how the situation develops. Real Betis need to add more quality and depth to their side. And the Manchester United defender could prove to be a quality acquisition.

The Spanish outfit finished 6th in the table in La Liga this past season, and they will be playing in Europe next season. They conceded 41 goals in 38 league matches this past term and will lead to tighten up at the back in order to do well in Europe next year.

Signing a quality defender should be a top priority for them. So it will be interesting to see if a move for Bailly sees the light of day. But other La Liga clubs like Valencia and Sevilla have also shown interest in the Manchester United defender.
