Manchester United are pondering over a potential move to acquire the services of Barcelona forward Ousmane Dembele.
According to a report by Fichajes, Manchester United are considering pushing for the services of Ousmane Dembele. The Red Devils are keen on bolstering their squad ahead of next season. They are looking to provide Erik ten Hag with a squad good enough to challenge their city rivals Manchester City. The Barcelona attacker will cost €50 million in the coming days.
Erik ten Hag has done a decent job since taking charge at Old Trafford. He has guided them back to the UEFA Champions League with a top-four finish and has also won a trophy in his first season in charge.
While Manchester United have done well under the Dutch manager, he is keen on further improving his squad ahead of next season. The former Ajax boss wants to add more firepower to his attack in order to push for the Premier League title and be competitive in the UCL.
The Red Devils’ priority is to push for a start striker ahead of next season. They want to sign a proper number nine who can share the goal-scoring load with Marcus Rashford. But, they are also looking for a new right-sided winger and have their eyes on Barcelona’s Ousmane Dembele.
The 26-year-old forward is an integral part of Barcelona’s attack. And, Xavi is keen on having him at his disposal next season. Dembele was involved in 32 matches in the 2022/23 season and had 17 goal contributions in total.
The French international’s contract with the Catalan giants runs until the summer of 2024, and there is a termination clause of €50 million in his contract. The only way he could leave Barcelona is if a club triggers the termination clause.
As per the report, Manchester United are interested in going the distance to land the Frenchman at the club. They are not happy with the performances of Antony and would love to have someone to strengthen their offensive rotation.
