Arsenal are interested in acquiring the services of 24-year-old Nigerian winger Samuel Chukwueze ahead of next season.
According to a report by Fichajes, Arsenal are looking to sign Samuel Chukwueze ahead of next season. The 24-year-old winger has gone from strength to strength over the past few seasons and he is on the radar of multiple top clubs from across Europe, including Liverpool and Newcastle United.
Chukwueze has come through the ranks at Villarreal; he was promoted to their first team back in 2018. And, the Nigerian international has not looked back since. He has featured in over 200 matches for the Spanish club and has over 65 goal contributions.
As far as the recently-concluded season is concerned, the 24-year-old found the back of the net on 13 occasions and also had 11 assists in his 50 outings. He was in red-hot form throughout the 2022-23 season, and there are quite a few clubs ready to go all out for his services.
Chukwueze’s contract runs until the summer of 2024. And with just a year left on his deal, Villarreal might consider letting him leave for the right price. They wouldn’t want to risk losing out on him for free next summer.
Meanwhile, Mikel Arteta is keen on bolstering his attack ahead of next season. Arteta has done a wonderful job at Arsenal so far but wants to take the next step and win a major trophy next season. The Gunners were very close to the Premier League title, but they ran out of gas at the very end.
The Spanish manager is now looking to bolster his squad to ensure they can push for the league as well as the Champions League title. And, signing a new forward is one of his priorities. Villarreal’s Samuel Chukwueze is one of his new targets.
The 24-year-old has done wonders in the recently concluded season and Arteta believes he could further bolster an attack that already has Bukayo Saka, Gabriel Jesus and Gabriel Martinelli. The Nigerian international can play on either flank and he will also add goals to the Arsenal attack.
Chukwueze is valued at around €50 million, and a bid around that region could be enough to prise him away from Spain. However, Arsenal are not alone in the race, as there are other clubs keen on him and they will surely push the Gunners all the way.
Liverpool and Newcastle have been linked with the player recently. Both clubs need to add more depth to the wide areas. Liverpool have Luis Diaz and Mohamed Salah as the only natural wingers at the club, and Newcastle have Allan Saint-Maximin at their disposal, but the Frenchman has been quite inconsistent.
