Tottenham Hotspur are keen on acquiring the services of Harvey Barnes and James Maddison from Leicester City.
According to Daily Mail, Tottenham Hotspur are interested in signing Harvey Barnes and James Maddison ahead of next season. They have placed a £50 million joint bid for the services of the Leicester City duo.
After Leicester City’s relegation to the EFL Championship, the future of quite a few of their star players has been uncertain. Harvey Barnes and James Maddison are two players who have attracted a lot of attention over the past few seasons. And, post their relegation, a lot of clubs have shown their interest in the English duo.
Spurs are one of the clubs interested in both players. Tottenham struggled in the 2022/23 season and decided to part ways with Antonio Conte. Things did not go according to plan for the London club, and they want to bolster their squad ahead of next season to try and end their trophy drought.
With their managerial situation sorted and Ange Postecoglou taking charge, Spurs have started making moves to strengthen their squad. They wanted to acquire an attack-minded midfielder and a winger ahead of next season. And, Tottenham have decided to push for the services of the Leicester City duo.
The Foxes would have demanded £60 million each for Barnes and Maddison in normal circumstances. But, after suffering relegation to the second division, they will have to settle for a much lower price for the English duo.
Maddison’s contract at Leicester runs out in the summer of 2024. With just a year left in his contract and the Foxes relegated, they do not really have many options to work with and will have to offload the England international. They cannot risk losing out on him for free.
While Barnes’s contract runs until the summer of 2025, even he is expected to part ways with the club ahead of next season. There are quite a few clubs interested in him and Foxes will have to sell in order to balance their finances.

While the Foxes do need to sell the duo, a £50 million joint bid for them might not stand any chance and Leicester will most likely reject it. However, Spurs won’t give up with ease and they might push for the duo again in the coming weeks.
