Newcastle United are ready to battle it out with Barcelona for the services of 18-year-old Rennes attacking midfielder Desire Doue.

According to iNews, Newcastle United are keen on having Desire Doue in their ranks. The 18-year-old midfielder has come into the limelight on the back of an impressive season in Ligue 1. And quite a few clubs, including Barcelona, are interested in him.

Barcelona are one of the clubs that would love to have the teenager at their disposal ahead of next season. The French Under-21 star has made quite a name for himself on the back of an impressive 2022/23 season.

His performances did not go unnoticed as the Catalan giants are willing to do all in their power to acquire the youngster from Ligue 1 club Rennes. Doue was involved in 34 matches and was on the pitch for over 1400 minutes. He even contributed with four goals and an assist.

The Catalan giants have been scouting him for a while, they are impressed with what they have seen and are looking to push for him in the summer. However, they will face tough competition from Newcastle United.

The Magpies have managed to secure Champions League football for next season. And, they are looking to strengthen their squad ahead of next season. Newcastle United are eyeing this transfer window as an opportunity to bolster their squad as well as sign young talented players for the future.

They have their eyes on the 18-year-old who has managed to impress one and all with his pace, ball-playing ability and eye for goal. Doue is the latest talent to emerge from Rennes, a club that developed Real Madrid midfielder Eduardo Camavinga.

The French prodigy has all the qualities to make it big. And the Magpies are keen on acquiring his services ahead of next season. They have already held talks with his agents over a possible move for the £12 million-rated star.

His versatility is what makes him a huge prospect for the future, the teenager can play a central midfielder, an attacking midfielder as well as a right winger. But with Barcelona also in the hunt, it will be interesting to see where he plies his trade next season.
