Valencia put Giorgi Mamardashvili up for sale

Valencia are ready to part ways with 22-year-old shot-stopper Giorgi Mamardashvili amid interest from Manchester United and Tottenham Hotspur.

According to MARCA, La Liga club Valencia are ready to sell Giorgi Mamardashvili. The 22-year-old shot-stopper is their most prized possession, but they are ready to let go of him given their financial struggles. Manchester United and Tottenham are among his prospective suitors. And he has a release clause worth €100 million in his contract.

Manchester United and Tottenham Hotspur have received a major boost as they have been keen on acquiring him for a while now. Mamardashvili joined Valencia on loan from Dinamo Tbilisi back in the summer of 2021. After an impressive loan spell, the Spanish club made the move permanent at the start of 2022.

The Georgia international has gone from strength to strength since joining Valencia. He is amongst the best young goalkeepers in La Liga, and there are a lot of clubs interested in his services.

While his contract with the club runs until the summer of 2027, the 22-year-old is expected to be on the move ahead of next season. There is a €100 million release clause in his contract. But with Valencia struggling financially, they will let him leave for a much lower fee.

Heading into the 2022/23 season, he was valued at around €50 million. But the team’s overall disappointing performances have hampered his value. While the Spanish club are yet to declare an official figure, they might sell him for something around €20-25 million.

The player’s entourage and the club have not had an official meeting yet. But it is pretty much certain that he will leave the club ahead of next season. Meanwhile, Manchester United are looking to sign a new shot-stopper irrespective of the future of David de Gea. If the Spanish goalkeeper leaves, they will have to sign a new keeper at all costs but even if he stays Erik ten Hag is keen on increasing the competition for the number one spot.

Tottenham Hotspur are looking for a Hugo Lloris replacement. The French shot-stopper is well past his prime and he has struggled in the 2022/23 season. The 36-year-old has already put forward his desire to leave the club after being their number one for ages.
