Newcastle United make move to sign Raphinha

Newcastle United are keen on acquiring the services of Barcelona forward Raphinha and have already made an initial offer.

According to SPORT via Sport Witness, Newcastle United have already submitted an opening enquiry for Raphinha. The Magpies have been interested in the 26-year-old forward for a while now.

Barcelona are reluctant to sell the Brazilian international. But Newcastle United are pushing to get a deal over the line. Raphinha joined Barcelona ahead of the 2022/23 season and has done a decent job post joining the Catalan giants. He has 22 goal contributions in his 50 outings.

The 26-year-old has impressed Barcelona manager Xavi, who counts on him for next season. The player has a contract with Barcelona that runs until the summer of 2027 and would love to stay at the club for as long as possible.

However, Newcastle United are willing to try everything possible to bring him back to the Premier League. The Magpies are aware of the financial situation of Barcelona and want to use it to acquire the Brazil international.

The Catalan giants are in desperate need to offload players to balance their finances out. And, according to reports, they have prepared a list of players that they are ready to sell before June 30. However, not everyone is ready to leave.

As a result, Newcastle United think providing a mouthwatering deal might help them pull this off. Despite Raphinha being not for sale, the Magpies have already submitted a bid. They did so back in May and are ready to push it up further if needed in order to bring the Brazilian to the club.

Eddie Howe is a big admirer of the player and he believes, the 26-year-old can help them take the next step. And, Newcastle United have the finances and European football to lure him to the club. While there is no clarity around what figure was involved in their initial offer, reports suggest that Barcelona will only consider an offer above €80 million.
