Liverpool have been linked with a move for Barcelona midfielder Franck Kessie in recent weeks but are not pursuing him.
James Pearce from The Athletic has claimed that Liverpool do not have an interest in signing 26-year-old Barcelona midfielder Franck Kessie this summer.
Kessie has been linked with a move away from Barcelona this summer, and the Spanish giants consider him as an expendable asset. It is no secret that Barcelona are looking to raise funds through sales so that they can bring in their own signings.
It appears that they are prepared to sell the 26-year-old midfielder after signing him just one year ago. The Blaugrana signed him on a free transfer, and they will be hoping to sell him for a substantial profit now.
There is no doubt that Liverpool will have to bring in multiple midfield reinforcements this summer. They have reportedly completed the deal to sign Alexis Mac Allister from Brighton & Hove Albion. But Kessie is clearly not on their list.
Liverpool are now looking at Manu Kone from Borussia Monchengladbach and Khephren Thuram from OGC Nice. While Kessie has the physicality to thrive in English football, he might not be such a good fit for Liverpool. Jurgen Klopp prefers technically gifted midfielders with agility and flair.
Meanwhile, Kessie has been linked with clubs like Tottenham Hotspur as well. And it remains to be seen whether the London club managed to sign him in the coming weeks. The 26-year-old arrived in Barcelona with the expectation of establishing himself as a key player for the Spanish club.
The move has clearly not worked out for him and he has struggled for regular game time under Xavi Hernandez. The Ivory Coast international needs to leave in order to play regularly and moving to the Premier League would be ideal for him. It will be interesting to see where he ends up eventually.

Meanwhile, Liverpool have lost players like James Milner, Naby Keita and Alex Oxlade Chamberlain on free transfers and they must look to strengthen their midfield unit considerably before the window closes.
