Liverpool front-runners to sign Gabri Veiga

Liverpool are leading the race for the signatures of 21-year-old Gabri Veiga amidst interest from rivals Manchester United.

According to Spanish journalist Oscar Mendez, Liverpool are keen on having Gabri Veiga in their ranks and they are leading the race for his services. The 21-year-old midfielder has been in sensational form of late and there are quite a few clubs keen on him.

Veiga has come up the ranks at Celta Vigo and was promoted to their first team ahead of the 2022-23 season. The 21-year-old has done wonders in his very first full season in the Spanish top flight.

He scored a brace on the final matchday against the champions Barcelona to save his boyhood club from relegation. Veiga has already written his name in the history books of Celta Vigo with his heroics against the Catalan giants.

The Spain Under-21 star has 15 goal contributions in his 36 league appearances. His performances have attracted a lot of attention and there is expected to transfer tussle between multiple clubs for his services.

While his performances did drop over the last couple of months, the 21-year-old showcased his class in the final fixture of the season.

Despite having a contract that runs until the summer of 2026, Veiga is expected to be on the move in the summer given the amount of interest in his services. There are multiple clubs out there ready to trigger his €40 million release clause.

Manchester United are one of the club ready to push for his services. Erik ten Hag wants to further bolster his squad ahead of next season. He wants to add more quality to push for important titles and Veiga’s arrival could surely help his cause.

However, they are behind Liverpool in the race for his services. The Merseyside club will go through an overhaul in the centre of the park in the upcoming transfer window. They have their eyes on multiple young stars and the Spain Under-21 star is one of their targets.

Veiga is attracted by the commitment of Jurgen Klopp towards his young players and he would love to join the Merseyside club. With Liverpool ready to go all out for the 21-year-old, it will be interesting to see if they can manage to land him at the club.
