Inter Milan looking to sign Trevoh Chalobah

Inter Milan are keen on having 23-year-old Chelsea centre-back Trevoh Chalobah in their ranks ahead of next season.

According to the Evening Standard, Inter Milan want to sign Trevoh Chalobah in the upcoming transfer window. The 23-year-old centre-back has been on the radar of the Serie A giants for over a year now and they might push for his services in the summer.

Inter were keen on signing the Englishman last summer. They approached Chelsea for a potential loan deal but the Blues were not interested in letting their 23-year-old defender leave the club. Since then, a lot has changed at Chelsea, but Inter’s interest in Chalobah remains intact. And, they are expected to push harder this time around.

The 23-year-old has been at Chelsea since 2007. He has come up the ranks at the club and has been a part of their first team setup since the 2021/22 season. Chalobah has been involved in a total of 63 matches for the Blues and also has five goal contributions to his name.

As far as the ongoing season is concerned, the England youth international has been involved in 33 matches and has been on the pitch for 2,289 minutes. Majority of those minutes have come under their caretaker manager Frank Lampard. Prior to his arrival, Chalobah was used as a substitute and hardly got any starts.

While he did sign a contract extension in November last year, the 23-year-old is not sure about continuing at Chelsea. He wants to feature regularly and push for a spot in the England squad for the Euro 2024. Meanwhile, Inter are ready to prise him away from the Blues. Chelsea value him at around £25 million, and Inter are ready to meet the price tag.

The Serie A giants are in search of a young defender as they look to freshen up their ageing defence. With Matteo Darmian and Francesco Acerbi both in the twilight of their career, Inter are in desperate need of signing a new defender.

They have been following Chalobah for a while now and believe acquiring his services could help their cause. However, it will all depend on Mauricio Pochettino who is set to take charge as Chelsea’s new boss. If the 23-year-old is not a part of Pochettino’s plan, Inter could acquire him without much trouble.
