Bruno Guimaraes ready to snub Barcelona, Real Madrid, Liverpool for Newcastle United stay

Bruno Guimaraes is set to pen a new deal with Newcastle United amid interest from Barcelona, Real Madrid and Liverpool.

According to The Sun, Bruno Guimaraes is keen on continuing at Newcastle United. The Brazil international is on the radar of multiple top clubs from across Europe, including Barcelona, Real Madrid, and Liverpool. But he is ready to snub them to stay with the Magpies.

The 25-year-old defensive midfielder joined Newcastle United in the winter of 2022 for a fee of around £42 million from Lyon. He has gone from strength to strength since joining them and has played a huge role in the club’s revival over the last 18 months. The Magpies were battling for survival when they acquired his services.

They have since managed to survive in the English top flight and this season they have finished inside the top four to secure Champions League football for the next season. In his first full season with the club, Guimaraes has featured in 40 matches and has ten goal contributions to his name. He has scored five goals and also has five assists to his name.

His performances have attracted a lot of attention from the likes of Real Madrid, Barcelona and Liverpool. Real Madrid are impressed with what they have seen from the 25-year-old. And they are keen on having him in their ranks. But, their priority at this point in time is to complete the signing of Jude Bellingham.

Meanwhile, Liverpool are interested in the services of the Brazil international. But, they do not have the Champions League to offer. As far as Barcelona are concerned, they are interested in having him in their ranks. But, they have their own financial concerns to take care of before they can think of pushing for his services.

Newcastle are well aware of the interest in Guimaraes. As a result, they have offered him a contract extension with increased wages. The 25-year-old was already their highest-paid player with a wage of £120,000-a-week. And now, he is set to sign a new deal that will see him earn £200,000-a-week.

His current contract expires in 2026. And the new £200,000-a-week deal will see him stay at the club until the summer of 2028. Eddie Howe has already talked about how the club is aware of the interest in their players and they will do everything in their power to keep hold of their stars. It will be interesting to see who Barcelona, Real Madrid, and Liverpool identify as alternatives to Bruno Guimaraes.
