La Liga heavyweights Real Madrid have reportedly asked for information about Inter Milan striker Lautaro Martinez.
According to a report by Mario Cortegana of The Athletic, Lautaro Martinez is the subject of interest from Real Madrid. And the Merengues have sounded out a move for the World Cup winner. But they have several other targets heading into the summer transfer window.
Lautaro Martinez has come leaps and bounds since joining Inter Milan from Racing Club in July 2018. The Argentine international has gone from being a young upstart to Inter’s talisman in the last half a decade. And his stock has also risen on the international stage, and he was a part of his nation’s World Cup-winning squad in 2022.
The 25-year-old has also enjoyed an excellent 2022/23 campaign at the club level after a few hiccups. And Martinez has a solid tally of 28 goals and 11 assists in 55 appearances thus far this term. Meanwhile, he has helped guide Inter Milan to the UEFA Champions League final, with the progress alerting Real Madrid.
Real Madrid would have ideally entered the market for only one striker in the summer transfer window. The Merengues have been expecting Mariano Diaz’s departure, with the 29-year-old eager to resurrect his stuttering career. But this week has produced a bombshell, with Karim Benzema’s Real Madrid future being uncertain.
Reports on Monday revealed that a move to Saudi Arabia might be on the cards for Benzema. And such a development will force Real Madrid into the market for a top-class striker in the summer transfer window. And Carlo Ancelotti wants Los Blancos to sign either Harry Kane or Victor Osimhen. But the Merengues prefer a move for Joselu or Roberto Firmino instead.
Meanwhile, the Spanish giants have sounded out a move for Lautaro Martinez. The World Cup winner has been on Real Madrid’s radar for a long time. So Los Blancos asking for information about him following the latest update surrounding Benzema is hardly surprising.
