Manchester United have identified 21-year-old Benfica forward Goncalo Ramos as their priority transfer target.

According to Rudy Galetti via GIVEMESPORT, Manchester United are keen on having Goncalo Ramos in their ranks ahead of next season. The 21-year-old has been on fire of late. He is amongst the most exciting young forwards going around and he could be on the move in the summer.

Ramos came into the limelight on the back of his heroics at the FIFA World Cup 2022. The 21-year-old scored a hattrick against Switzerland in the Round of 16. He started ahead of their skipper Cristiano Ronaldo and made sure they didn’t miss him.

The 21-year-old has been a consistent performer for his club Benfica. He has featured in 47 matches in the ongoing season and has 39 goal contributions. The Portugal international has found the back of the net on 27 occasions and has 12 assists to his name.

His performances have attracted a lot of attention and he could be on the move in the upcoming transfer window. While his contract at Benfica runs until the summer of 2026, the 21-year-old has a release clause of £103 million which could result in his departure.

Meanwhile, Manchester United are one of the clubs interested in acquiring his services. The Red Devils have had a decent season under Erik ten Hag. But, they have relied on Marcus Rashford for the majority of their goals. And, they are keen on adding someone who can support the England international upfront.

Galetti on Ramos to United said: “Yes, Manchester United are pushing for Goncalo Ramos and currently consider him one of their main targets for attack, together with Victor Osimhen, Dusan Vlahovic, and Harry Kane.”

With United back in the Champions League, they will need more quality in their ranks to be competitive in both Premier League and UCL. While they did bring in Wout Weghorst on loan to lead the attack, he hasn’t been as effective and is all set to return to his parent club.

Ten Hag is desperate to have a new world-class forward in his ranks ahead of next season. He has a shortlist of some of the best strikers going around but his priority is to have the 21-year-old.

While Harry Kane seems to be a better option given his experience of playing in the Premier League, Ramos is someone who will get better with time and has the potential to be amongst the best in the world. As a result, it will be interesting to see if United can land him at the club.
