Barcelona have reportedly been linked with a move for 29-year-old Atletico Madrid wide man Yannick Carrasco.

Yannick Carrasco is expected to leave Atletico Madrid this summer for a fee of around €9 million. And Barcelona have now decided to sign the 29-year-old wide man, according to journalist Toni Juanmarti.

Apparently, the Blaugrana were unsure about his signing back in January. But his performances during the second half of the campaign have convinced Barcelona to sign the player this summer. The reported asking price seems quite reasonable for a player of his experience and quality.

Carrasco is versatile enough to operate as a winger as well as a wing-back. He could be an asset for Barcelona in the coming seasons. The 29-year-old has been in impressive form this season, scoring seven goals and picking up three assists in the league. His numbers are likely to improve ifin a more attacking team.

The Belgian international is capable of slotting into multiple roles and performing at a higher level. Barcelona certainly need squad players like him in order to compete on various fronts. Barcelona did well to win the league title this year. But they were quite underwhelming in the European competition. They will need a bigger squad to deal with the increased number of fixtures and Carrasco could be a handy option to have.

The 29-year-old is well-settled in Spain, and he should be able to come in and make an immediate impact at Camp Nou. The opportunity to play for a big club like Barcelona will be difficult to turn down. So the winger is likely to be tempted to complete the transfer this summer.

The two clubs have previously worked on high-profile transfers, and it remains to be seen whether they can get the Carrasco deal across the line. Barcelona need to strengthen their squad adequately this summer. But they are going through financial limitations.

Now that’s he’s passed his prime? We needed this player long time but we’re lost by signing unwarranted players
