Carlo Ancelotti is reportedly pushing Real Madrid to sign 29-year-old Tottenham striker Harry Kane in the summer transfer window.
According to a report by Spanish outlet AS, Carlo Ancelotti will prioritise signing Harry Kane at Real Madrid in the summer transfer window. The Italian tactician will prefer the 29-year-old Tottenham Hotspur striker to any “low cost” option.
Harry Kane has established himself as one of the best strikers over the past decade. The English international had humble beginnings at Tottenham Hotspur and had to bide his time to become the first-choice striker. But he has not looked back since enjoying a breakthrough 2014/15 campaign. He has also risen in stature on the international stage, becoming the England captain.
Kane has also broken the scoring record for his club and country, with Alan Shearer’s elusive 260-goal mark in the Premier League now in sight. And the 29-year-old has been a standout performer for Tottenham this season, amassing 30 goals and five assists in 48 appearances. But his long-term future is uncertain, with Real Madrid considering signing him.
Recent reports claimed that intermediaries offered Real Madrid the opportunity to sign Kane this summer. And while it is unclear if Florentino Perez will take up the chance to secure the player’s services. But Real Madrid will likely enter the market for a striker ahead of the 2023/24 season.
That is because Mariano Diaz will depart from the Santiago Bernabeu in the summer transfer window. The 29-year-old wants to resurrect his stuttering career and secure regular game time elsewhere. In addition, Karim Benzema has had fitness issues this season. So Real Madrid can do with an alternative to the French striker.
At the same time, with Benzema in the twilight of his glittering career, it behoves Real Madrid to identify his successor. Players like Erling Haaland and Kylian Mbappe are on Los Blancos’ radar. Meanwhile, reports have suggested that Real Madrid might pursue an economical solution this summer before targeting Haaland or Mbappe. But Carlo Ancelotti wants the club to sign Kane.
The Real Madrid manager prefers the 29-year-old Tottenham striker to the “low cost” options on the wishlist. But the Merengues face stiff competition from Manchester United and Bayern Munich for the Englishman. So it will be interesting to see if a summer move to Real Madrid sees the light of day.
