Manchester United and Tottenham Hotspur are reportedly keen on signing Evan Ferguson from Brighton & Hove Albion.
According to a report from Sky Sports, Manchester United and Brighotn & Hove Albion are currently laying down the groundwork to sign Evan Ferguson next summer. The teenager has established himself as one of the most promising young attacking talents in the league. And there is a belief that he could develop into a £100 million striker in the coming seasons.
It is no secret that Manchester United will have to bring in attacking reinforcements at the end of the season. They have been overly dependent on Marcus Rashford for goals, and the 25-year-old striker needs more support from his teammates.
Ferguson would be a solid, long-term addition to Erik ten Hag’s side, and he could share the goalscoring burden with Rashford in the coming seasons. The 18-year-old is still quite young and is likely to develop further with coaching and experience. It will be interesting to see if Manchester United are prepared to submit an official offer for the talented youngster in the coming months.
Tottenham Hotspur need to bring in attacking reinforcements as well. They have been overly dependent on Harry Kane and the England international has been linked with an exit from Tottenham at the end of the season. Harry Kane has a contract with Tottenham until the summer of 2024, and Tottenham need to start planning for a future without him.
While the 18-year-old Brighton striker is not as good as Kane right now, he could prove to be a quality long-term replacement for the England international. Ferguson has ten goals across all competitions, this season and he would be a superb addition to the Tottenham attack.
The Brighton star is more than just a goal scorer and his overall playmaking abilities will add a different dimension to the Manchester United and Tottenham attack. Brighton are likely to demand a premium for his services.
So it will be interesting to see if the two English clubs are prepared to break the bank for his services. Manchester United certainly have the finances to compete with clubs like Tottenham. So the north London giants might be at a disadvantage if they are competing with the Red Devils for the 18-year-old.
