Roberto Firmino is reportedly set to leave the club at the end of the season, with Barcelona keen on signing him.

Roberto Firmino will see his Liverpool contract end this summer, and he has decided not to renew his deal. A report from the Spanish publication SPORT claims that the Brazilian international is now keen on a move to Barcelona this summer.

Barcelona could definitely use attacking reinforcements this summer, and the Brazilian international could prove to be a superb addition on a free transfer. The 31-year-old has 12 goals across all competitions, and he could prove to be a very useful member of Xavi Hernandez’s first-team squad next year.

Firmino is versatile enough to play in a number of attacking roles, and he has experience and ability to play for the biggest clubs in the world. The 31-year-old has helped Liverpool win every single trophy at the club level, and he will be hoping to make his mark in La Liga now.

The Brazilian’s style of play should be a good fit for Barcelona, and he could be a key player for the next year. The Spanish giants have been overly dependent on Robert Lewandowski for goals this season, and they will need more depth in the side.

Firmino could share the goalscoring burden alongside the Polish international, and he will add some much-needed creativity in the final third as well. The Brazilian international is more than just a goalscorer, and he will bring playmaking qualities to the table as well.

Pursuing a player of Firmino’s experience and quality on a free transfer would be a bargain for any club. And Barcelona could certainly use signings like that. The Spanish giants are going through financial difficulties right now. So they will not be able to spend big money on attacking players.

Firmino has already proven himself in the Premier League. And the opportunity to showcase his qualities in another major European league will be an attractive option for him. Barcelona managed to win the league title this year and they will be hoping to do well in the Champions League next year.
