Manchester United have opened talks to sign 31-year-old Paris Saint-Germain forward Neymar ahead of next season.

According to L’Equipe, Manchester United are interested in acquiring the services of Neymar. The 31-year-old forward’s future at Paris Saint-Germain is uncertain, and he might look for a move away from the club in the summer.

PSG brought Neymar back in the summer of 2017 from Barcelona for a world record fee of €222 million. The French club were keen on building a team full of superstars that could help them win the UEFA Champions League. PSG even managed to acquire the services of Kylian Mbappe and Lionel Messi. However, they are yet to win the elusive UCL.

While the Brazil international has done his bit on the pitch, he has failed to fulfil the objective of lifting the biggest trophy in club football. In the ongoing season, the 31-year-old has 35 goal contributions in his 29 matches. Neymar’s numbers are very impressive, but he has failed to live up to the expectations of the fans.

While his contract at the club runs until the summer of 2025, the former Barcelona forward could be on the move in the summer. Neymar’s situation at PSG is not great, and the fans are not really on his side. Even the player does not look keen on continuing at the club. Meanwhile, Manchester United have emerged as a potential destination for the 31-year-old.

The Red Devils are looking to further strengthen their squad ahead of next season. They want to add a new world-class forward to their ranks. And Manchester United need someone who can share the goalscoring load with Marcus Rashford.

Neymar will surely bring in a lot of goals. However, his wages and transfer fee won’t make it feasible enough for Manchester United. As a result, they might look for a loan move where they will pay his full wages. While PSG will prefer offloading him, they might even agree to a loan move as they look to revamp their squad.

Reports suggest that Casemiro has been in contact with his compatriot as he looks to persuade the 31-year-old to join the Red Devils. However, Manchester United are not the only ones in the race. Even Newcastle United and Chelsea have been linked with the former Barcelona star.
