Joan Laporta is stepping up his efforts to secure the services of Dani Olmo, with Barcelona submitting an enquiry to RB Leipzig.
According to a report by Spanish outlet El Desmarque, Dani Olmo is a top target for Barcelona. The Catalan giants are keen on signing the Spanish international in the summer transfer window. And they have contacted RB Leipzig over a possible agreement ahead of the 2023/24 season.
Dani Olmo surprised many when he chose to leave Barcelona’s famed La Masia Academy to join Dinamo Zagreb. But his decision was well-founded as he became a first-team regular in no time for the Croatian outfit. And his stock has risen considerably since moving to RB Leipzig in January 2020.
The 25-year-old has seen his market value rise to €40 million during his professional career. And Olmo has a solid record of 21 goals and 27 assists in 121 appearances thus far for RB Leipzig. The Spaniard’s progress has not gone unnoticed either, with several high-profile clubs, including Barcelona, interested in him.
The Catalan giants hold a long-standing interest in the Spanish international. And Barcelona attempted to secure Olmo’s services in the last two summer transfer windows, only for a move to not materialise. But they remain keen on signing the RB Leipzig attacker ahead of the 2023/24 season.
With Raphinha, Ferran Torres, and Ansu Fati facing an uncertain future at Spotify Camp Nou, Barcelona will need to sign an attacker. And Olmo is a viable target for the Blaugrana, who will look to re-sign him this summer. Meanwhile, the player wants to rejoin Barcelona ahead of the 2023/24 season.
The Catalan giants have now made their move for the Spanish international, submitting an enquiry to RB Leipzig for him. But it is unclear if Barcelona can afford to meet his market value of around €40 million. Nonetheless, Joan Laporta will push Barcelona to re-sign the 25-year-old in the summer transfer window.
