Manchester United and Newcastle United are keen on acquiring the services of 26-year-old Leicester City midfielder Youri Tielemans.
According to Rudy Galetti via GIVEMESPORT, Manchester United and Newcastle United are interested in the services of Youri Tielemans. The 26-year-old playmaker is all set to be a free agent as soon as the season ends. And, he will be free to join the club that he wants.
Tielemans joined Leicester City back in the winter of 2019. It was an initial loan move that was made permanent on the back of his impressive performances. The 26-year-old has racked up 193 appearances for the Foxes and has been involved in 53 goals. As far as the ongoing season is concerned, the Belgian international has five goal contributions in 35 outings.
He has been integral to their success over the past few seasons. But with his contract set to expire in the upcoming month, the former AS Monaco player is all set to part ways with the club. The Foxes have been keen on extending his stay at the club. But the player wanted to move on. He wanted to have full control of his transfer and decided to not renew his deal with Leicester.
With the Foxes facing relegation, they are in a situation to persuade him to pen a new deal. The 26-year-old is all set to be a free agent and he will decide his future in the upcoming months. Meanwhile, Manchester United and Newcastle United are two Premier League clubs that want to sign the Belgian international.
Galetti said to GIVEMESPORT, “Manchester United, Newcastle United and Borussia Dortmund are following with attention the midfielder and they can probably guarantee more game time, especially the German club with the sale of Bellingham in June.”
The Red Devils want to sign a new central midfielder who can feature alongside Casemiro in the double pivot role. While they do have Christian Eriksen in their ranks, the Denmark international’s age and fitness are a concern.
Apart from him, they do really have much quality in their ranks for the double pivot as a result they are desperate to land the Belgian midfielder. His arrival will give them a great base in the centre of the park, he will help them improve their passing and build-up play. The 26-year-old can easily slot into the Erik ten Hag system.
Meanwhile, Newcastle will push Manchester United all the way for his signatures. The Magpies want to add more quality to their ranks as they are all set to feature in the Champions League next season. Their manager Eddie Howe is keen on bolstering his midfield.
He wants to add world-class midfielders to take his team to the next level, and Tielemans could be a great fit for the club. Given the financial strength of the Magpies, they might not have a problem giving the 26-year-old hefty wages.
