Barcelona might include Ferran Torres in the deal to sign Juan Foyth from Villarreal, with his price tag of €54 million being prohibitive.

According to a report by Spanish outlet AS, Juan Foyth remains a target for Barcelona. But the Catalan giants are in no position to pay €54 million to secure the services of the full-back. So they will offer Ferran Torres in the deal to sign the Argentine international in the summer transfer window.

Juan Foyth has come leaps and bounds since joining Villarreal from Tottenham Hotspur. The 25-year-old was a frustrated figure at the North London club as his career was going nowhere. But his stock has soared in the last three years, as he has been one of the best full-backs in La Liga.

The Argentine international was also a part of the squad that won the 2022 FIFA World Cup a few months ago. Meanwhile, Foyth has turned out nearly 100 times for Villarreal, chipping in with three goals and five assists. And the player’s progress has captured the attention of several clubs, including Barcelona.

The Catalan giants hold a long-standing interest in Foyth, even making attempts to sign him on previous occasions. Barcelona wanted to secure the Argentine’s services last summer but did not have the funds to land him. However, Barcelona’s interest in the player has not waned, and he is a priority target.

But Barcelona still cannot afford to trigger his release clause, worth €54 million. With the Blaugrana still reeling from financial issues, spending €54 million on one player is improbable. So Barcelona will propose a part-exchange deal to prise Foyth away from Villarreal this summer. And Ferran Torres is one of the players they might offer.

The 23-year-old forward has struggled to make his mark since joining Barcelona in January 2021. And widespread reports have suggested that he is surplus to requirements at Spotify Camp Nou. So it is hardly surprising that Barcelona might look to use Torres as a makeweight in the deal to sign Foyth.

The Catalan giants are also open to including Nico Gonzalez or Pablo Torre in a similar arrangement. But it is unclear if Villarreal will accept such a proposal or stick to demanding €54 million. It will be interesting to see if a part-exchange deal sees the light of day.
