Tottenham Hotspur are willing to spend €20 million to permanently sign 27-year-old Barcelona centre-back Clement Lenglet.

According to Mundo Deportivo via Sport Witness, Tottenham Hotspur are keen on acquiring the services of Clement Lenglet on a permanent basis. The 27-year-old Barcelona defender is currently on loan at Spurs, and he has managed to impress the people at the club. As a result, they are pushing to keep him at the club.

Lenglet joined Barcelona back in the summer of 2018. The French international was a part of the Catalan setup for four years. While he did have his fair share of chances, the 27-year-old failed to cement his spot in the team.

And, he has was loaned out to Tottenham ahead of the ongoing season. Lenglet has featured in 33 matches for Spurs and has been on the pitch for over 2,500 minutes. He has also contributed with one goal and two assists.

He has had a positive impact on the London club and people at the club are quite happy with his performances throughout the campaign. While he is all set to return to his parent club in the summer, Tottenham are considering signing him on a permanent basis.

Lenglet’s loan move to Spurs does not include a buy option or obligation. However, the club are keen on securing his services and are holding talks with Barcelona. Meanwhile, the Catalan giants are in a financial crisis and they need to offload players before signing new ones.

They have prepared a list of players that they would like to sell in order to raise funds. And, according to reports, Lenglet is likely to be offloaded. Spurs are very happy with Lenglet’s performances and they are ready to pay €20 million for the services of the 27-year-old. They are keen on bolstering their defence ahead of next season.

They do not really have much quality in their squad when it comes to the left-side centre-backs and signing Lenglet on a permanent basis will surely help their cause. However, it will be interesting to see if the €20 million will be enough to land him at the club on a permanent basis.
