Chelsea, Manchester United join race to sign Joshua Kimmich

Chelsea and Manchester United are reportedly interested in Bayern Munich midfielder Joshua Kimmich, a target for Barcelona and Real Madrid.

Joshua Kimmich has been linked with a move away from Bayern Munich this summer. And Chelsea and Manchester United have been mentioned as potential destinations as per 90min. Barcelona and Real Madrid are also interested in the German international.

Kimmich has been an important first-team player for Bayern Munich, and he could prove to be a quality acquisition for Chelsea and Manchester United as well. The 28-year-old is naturally a defensive midfielder.

But he can operate as a right-sided defender as well. His versatility will be an added bonus. Meanwhile, Arsenal and Liverpool are also keen on signing the Bayern Munich ace. Chelsea will have to sign a quality defensive midfielder, especially with the future of N’Golo Kante up in the air.

The Frenchman will be a free agent in the summer and he has not signed an extension at Stamford Bridge yet. If he moves on, Chelsea will need a new defensive midfielder, and Kimmich could prove to be a quality option.

Similarly, Manchester United have Casemiro at their disposal. But the Brazilian international needs more help in the middle of the park. The Red Devils will have to bring in a quality partner for Casemiro, and the 28-year-old German international certainly fits the profile.

The Bayern Munich midfielder is at the peak of his career right now, and he will be hoping to make an immediate impact in the Premier League. It remains to be seen whether Chelsea and Manchester United come forward with a concrete offer for the player.

Kimmich is a world-class player on his day and he is unlikely to come cheap. The likes of Chelsea and Manchester United will have to pay up for his services. Meanwhile, Chelsea have had a disappointing campaign so far and they are set to miss out on European football next season.

It remains to be seen whether they can attract a player like Kimmich without Champions League football next season. Barcelona and Real Madrid are also keen on signing the German international. The two Spanish clubs are in the market for a midfield reinforcement. And Barcelona and Real Madrid will be attractive destinations for Kimmich.

The 28-year-old German has proven himself at the highest level with club and country, and he will want to join the club where he can compete for major trophies. Manchester United are well-placed to secure a top-four finish and they have the finances to attract him as well.
