Bayern Munich will accept a part-exchange deal to sell Joshua Kimmich to Barcelona if they get Ousmane Dembele or Andreas Christensen in return.
According to a report by Spanish outlet Fichajes, Bayern Munich might open up to selling Joshua Kimmich in a part-exchange deal. Barcelona cannot afford to pay €60 million to sign the German international. But the Bavarian giants want Barcelona to include Andreas Christensen or Ousmane Dembele in the operation.
Joshua Kimmich has been one of the best midfielders in the world since transitioning from a right-back to a holding midfielder. Philipp Lahm’s heir in the truest sense, the 28-year-old has been a vital cog for Bayern Munich for several years. In addition, he is a pivotal figure for his national side.
The German international has made nearly 350 appearances for Bayern Munich. And he has chipped in with 40 goals and 94 assists in those outings. But Kimmich’s long-term future is uncertain, and he might depart from the Allianz Arena this summer. Such a situation has alerted Barcelona.
Barcelona will delve into the market for a holding midfielder in the summer transfer window. With Sergio Busquets departing from Spotify Camp Nou at the end of the season, Xavi Hernandez has one of two options. He could either deploy Frenkie de Jong at the base of the midfielder and sign a creative midfielder.
Alternatively, Barcelona can target a holding midfielder to take over from Busquets. The second option brings Kimmich into the picture. But Barcelona will not have the means to shell out €60 million to secure the German international’s services. That has left them pondering a part-exchange deal.
Recent reports have claimed that Barcelona might offer one pivotal figure to secure Kimmich’s services. And Bayern Munich will be open to such an arrangement if the Catalan giants include either Andreas Christensen or Ousmane Dembele in the operation. The latter is a favourite of Thomas Tuchel, who wants Bayern Munich to sign the Frenchman.

If the Catalan giants are ready to include Dembele in a part-exchange deal, Tuchel might as well sanction Kimmich’s sale. That will help Barcelona bring the player’s price tag of €60 million down to an acceptable level. But the rumour seems senseless, considering Xavi Hernandez wants Barcelona to extend Dembele’s deal.
