West Ham United are all set to battle it out with Newcastle United for the signature of Manchester City defender Taylor Harwood-Bellis.
According to a report by Football Insider, West Ham United are keen on having Taylor Harwood-Bellis in their ranks ahead of next season. And, they have joined the race alongside Newcastle United for his services.
The Manchester City defender is currently out on loan at Burnley. And, he has been incredible in the ongoing season. The 21-year-old has been involved in 35 matches and also has three goal involvements. He has been a rock in the heart of defence and has hardly put a foot wrong.
Harwood-Bellis has played a major role in Burnley’s impressive run in the league. He has helped them win the EFL Championship and gain promotion to the English top flight. The 21-year-old is all set to return to his parent club in the summer. And, Manchester City will decide about his future once the season ends.
His contract at the Etihad runs out in the summer of 2024. If Manchester City do not manage to extend his stay, they might be forced to offload him in the upcoming window. And, Newcastle United and West Ham along with Burnley are ready to push for his services.
The Magpies are keen on further bolstering their squad ahead of next season. They want to increase their squad depth in order to be more competitive and believe acquiring the 21-year-old could help them in the present as well as the future.
Meanwhile, West Ham are also desperate for his signatures. The Hammers lost out on Craig Dawson in January, and Angelo Ogbonna is likely to part ways with the club in the summer after his contract runs out.
As a result, West Ham want to bring in a new defender ahead of next season and have their eyes on Harwood-Bellis who has impressed during his loan spell in the Championship. Even Burnley are keen on having him back at their club, and they are willing to fit it out with the well-established Premier League clubs for his services.
