Newcastle United are interested in acquiring the services of 21-year-old Manchester City defender Taylor Harwood-Bellis.

According to 90min, Newcastle United want to sign Taylor Harwood-Bellis from Manchester City in the summer. The 21-year-old is currently on loan at Burnley and he has done a great job for the Championship side.

His performances have attracted the attention of numerous clubs and they are willing to push for his signatures in the summer.

The England Under-21 star has been the mainstay for Vincent Kompany’s side in the English second division. The Manchester City defender has played a key role in helping his team stay at the top of the division. Burnley currently have an 11-point lead at the top of the table and are likely to gain promotion.

The 21-year-old has made 30 appearances and has three goal contributions to his name in the ongoing season. While he hasn’t featured for City in the Premier League, Harwood-Bellis has already made over 100 appearances at the senior level thanks to his numerous loan moves.

His loan move expires in the summer and he is set to return to his parent club. But, his contract at the Manchester-based club runs until the summer of 2024 which will complicate things.

While Manchester City want to extend his contract, the 21-year-old could decide to part ways with the club as he is well aware of the fact that he is way down in the pecking order of Pep Guardiola. Burnley who have him on loan at this stage will once again push for him in a few months.

Kompany will try to persuade his former club to facilitate either a permanent or a loan move for the England under-21 star. But, it might not be that easy given the interest of Newcastle in his services.

The Magpies are pushing for a Champions League spot at this point in time. They are likely to get there after their heroics against Manchester United. While Eddie Howe has done great with the squad at his disposal, he is likely to head into the market in search of a new defender.

Howe wants to add Harwood-Bellis to his ranks amidst talks of Jamaal Lascelles leaving the club in the summer. If they do manage to land the 21-year-old, he could eventually pair up with Sven Botman in the heart of Newcastle’s defence.
