Real Madrid will not launch the offensive for PSG midfielder Marco Verratti, even though he is keen on moving to the Santiago Bernabeu.
According to a report by French outlet RMC Sport, Marco Verratti will unlikely realise his dream of joining Real Madrid. The PSG midfielder, whose market value is €50 million, wants to move to the Santiago Bernabeu. But the Merengues have ruled out a summer move for the Italian international.
Marco Verratti has been one of the best midfielders in the world during his stint with Paris Saint-Germain. The 30-year-old has been with Les Parisiens since July 2012, when he arrived in France from Pescara. And his market value has risen to €50 million in the last 11 years, peaking at €75 million.
Meanwhile, the Italian international has turned out over 400 times thus far for PSG, chipping in with 11 goals and 61 assists. But Verratti’s PSG stint might end in the summer transfer window, as he wants to embark on a new adventure. The French champions are not averse to selling the player either. And the experienced midfielder reportedly wants to join Real Madrid.
The UEFA Euro 2020 winner shares a healthy relationship with Carlo Ancelotti. And recent reports have claimed that he recently approached the Real Madrid manager to discuss a possible summer move. Meanwhile, Real Madrid can do with a player of Verratti’s qualities.
Aurelien Tchouameni has struggled a great deal since the break for the 2022 FIFA World Cup ended. And Verratti can be an alternative to the Frenchman at the base of the Real Madrid midfield. In addition, he can also be a box-to-box midfielder in Luka Modric’s mould.
Verratti’s ball-playing ability should make him an attractive target for Ancelotti. But Real Madrid will not pursue the 30-year-old, thus ruling out a summer move. So a return to Italy might be on the cards for the PSG midfielder. And with PSG unlikely to stand in his way, the transfer fee will unlikely be high.
Meanwhile, a move to Saudi Arabia might also be in the pipeline. Verratti has struck a bond with Lionel Messi and is reportedly ready to follow the Argentine international. With Al Hilal keen on signing Messi, a deal for Verratti might also materialise. But he will unlikely join Real Madrid unless the Merengues change their mind.
