Arsenal are interested in acquiring the services of the 24-year-old
According to Fabrizio Romano via Caught Offside, Arsenal are keen on having Edmond Tapsoba in their ranks ahead of next season. The Gunners are looking to strengthen their defence in the upcoming transfer window, and Tapsoba is on their radar.
The 24-year-old came through the ranks at Portuguese club Vitoria before joining
The Bayer Leverkusen defender has hardly put a foot wrong in the ongoing campaign. He has been the mainstay of their defence racking up over 40 appearances and he has also been involved in four of their goals.
His impressive performances have attracted interest from Arsenal. While the 24-year-old’s contract at the Bundesliga club runs until the summer of 2026, he could be on the move in the summer if the right bid arrives.
Meanwhile, Arsenal were leading the race for the Premier League title for the majority of the season but they have ended up being second-best at the very end. Manchester City are likely to once again lift the league title.
However, the Gunners now have a very clear idea of what they need to improve on. While they do have some quality defenders in Gabriel Magalhaes, William Saliba, Ben White and January signing Jakub Kiwior, they have been poor defensively at certain important points in the season.
Their defensive record at home has been poor in particular and their manager Mikel Arteta is keen on strengthening his defence. He wants to add a defender who has a physical presence and can easily slot into his system.
Tapsoba has all the qualities Arteta is looking for and he could be a great addition to their ranks. However, it will be interesting to see if Arsenal can manage to prise him away from Bayer Leverkusen. And, there are a few other clubs who might make their pursuit of the 24-year-old a bit more difficult.
