Manchester United have reportedly been linked with a summer move for 29-year-old Everton goalkeeper Jordan Pickford.

Jordan Pickford has done well at Goodison Park in recent seasons, and he has established himself as a reliable Premier League goalkeeper. A report from Daily Star claims that Manchester United could look to make a move for him as an alternative to David de Gea.

The 32-year-old Spaniard will be out of contract this summer and he is yet to sign an extension with the Red Devils. Even if he signs a new contract with Manchester United, they should look to bring in a quality goalkeeper at the end of the season.

De Gea has struggled to adapt to Erik ten Hag’s playing style, and his below-par distribution skills have caused problems for Manchester United at the back. Although Jordan Pickford is not the best passer either, he could prove to be a useful acquisition for the Red Devils.

Pickford has proven his quality with club and country in recent seasons. And the opportunity to play for Manchester United could be an attractive proposition.

The 29-year-old has been fighting a relegation battle with Everton over the last two seasons, and he might be keen on joining a club capable of winning trophies now. The England international is at the peak of his powers, and moving to Manchester United would be the ideal next step in his career.

It remains to be seen whether Manchester United come forward with an official proposal for the 29-year-old in the coming weeks. Everton will want to hold on to their star player. But they could be powerless to stop him from leaving if the Englishman is intent on the move.

Manchester United won the League Cup earlier this season and they will be hoping to improve their squad considerably during the summer transfer window. Ten Hag will be expected to challenge for the league title next year. And a signing like Pickford will certainly improve Manchester United.

The Red Devils could be playing in the Champions League next season, and Pickford will be tempted to move to Old Trafford if there is a concrete proposal on the table. But with Tottenham also reportedly interested, Manchester United will need to be decisive in their approach.
