Inter Milan plot Manchester United raid for Donny van de Beek

Inter Milan are keen to raid Manchester United for Dutch midfielder Donny van de Beek in the summer transfer window.

According to Calciomercatoweb, Serie A giants Inter Milan are interested in securing the signature of Manchester United star Donny van de Beek in the upcoming summer transfer window.

The Dutch international moved to Old Trafford from Ajax Amsterdam in the summer of 2021 in a deal worth €39 million. Despite scoring on his debut, van de Beek has struggled to make an impact at Old Trafford. He spent the 2021/22 campaign on loan at Premier League rivals Everton but it did little to improve his fortunes.

The arrival of Erik ten Hag appeared to be a good sign for the midfielder’s resurgence. However,a knee injury cut short his season and he also ended up missing out on a spot in the Netherlands squad for the 2022 FIFA World Cup.

The 26-year-old is now the forgotten man at Old Trafford and a new challenge could be on the cards. Inter Milan are ready to offer him a way out and could make a summer punt for his services.

The Nerazzurri are keen to strengthen their midfield in the summer and have earmarked Van de Beek as a potential addition. With Nicolo Barella and Marcelo Brozovic likely to be privy to transfer bids, the Serie A giants will need to bring in technically adept reinforcements to offset potential losses.

Simone Inzaghi’s 3-5-2 system relies on a solid central midfield with players getting forward whenever necessary. Van de Beek has the ability to thrive in the role and could prove to be a low-price asset. Bringing him in for €20 million would be excellent business for the Nerazzurri, given their financial struggles. The Dutchman at that price represents a low-risk option for a pittance.

Van de Beek has what it takes to re-ignite his career at the Giuseppe Meazza. His technical prowess should give him an advantage on the ball in Serie A, a league that is physically less demanding than the Premier League. At 26, the Dutchman is entering his prime and has several years left in him.

Ten Hag’s inability to reignite van de Beek’s career could very well spell the end of his spell at Old Trafford. A move to Milan could very well prove to be a win-win for all parties involved.
