Manchester City are closing in on signing 15-year-old goalkeeping sensation Spike Brits from AFC Wimbledon, with an agreement in place.
According to Fabrizio Romano, Manchester City are close to signing Spike Brits from AFC Wimbledon in the coming days. There’s an agreement in place to bring the 15-year-old goalkeeping sensation to the club, with the England Under-16 star considered a solid addition to their youth ranks.
Manchester City will look to finish the season strongly, with the prospect of them winning the treble very much alive. After the campaign ends, the club will dip into the transfer market to strengthen their first-team squad, with several positions needing reinforcements.
In the background, Manchester City are always on the lookout for young stars to shore up their youth ranks and have several names on their mind. They are chasing several targets, particularly from within the UK and Ireland. Arsenal’s prodigious talent, Ethan Nwaneri, is on their list.
Several other young defenders and attackers are on their target list, including a new goalkeeper. AFC Wimbledon’s 15-year-old goalkeeping sensation Spike Brits featured highly on their agenda, and the Under-16 star is now close to joining Manchester City.

Fabrizio Romano confirmed an agreement was in place to bring the 15-year-old goalkeeping sensation to Manchester City. The player could get an unveiling soon once the contracts are signed, with the Premier League side likely to pay a compensation fee for the player.
Since Brits is 15, he has no professional contract with Wimbledon. He will join their youth sides, hoping one day to make it into the first team setup. Manchester City are not currently flush with young keepers on the periphery of the senior side, something the 15-year-old goalkeeping sensation can keep an eye on.
The club signed 30-year-old Stefan Ortega last summer, while Ederson Moraes and Scott Carlson are their other goalkeeping options in the first team. Someone like Brits could seek valuable experience from those above him and prosper at this club.
The question remains when the player might come in to sign his contract, although it may not be far too long. The compensation fee would also become clearer in the coming days, but Manchester City have solid talent on their hands for the future.
