Newcastle United lead the race to sign 22-year-old French midfielder Khephren Thuram who is on the radar of Liverpool and Real Madrid.

According to a report by Football Insider, Newcastle United are keen on having Khephren Thuram in their ranks. Even Real Madrid and Liverpool are interested in the 22-year-old. However, the report suggests that the Magpies are leading the race.

Thuram has had an exceptional season so far. His consistent performances resulted in his debut for the French national team. Meanwhile, the youngster is valued at around £60 million by the Ligue 1 club.

The 22-year-old came through the ranks at AS Monaco before joining OGC Nice in the summer of 2019. He has shown great progress over the past few seasons. And, it seems he has managed to take his game to the next level in the ongoing campaign. The French international has been a consistent performer and has hardly put a foot wrong so far.

Thuram has been involved in 42 matches in the ongoing campaign. He has found the back of the net twice and also has eight assists to his name. His contract at the club runs until the summer of 2025. However, he is not expected to stay there beyond the ongoing season.

The French club might accept a bid of around £60 million for the 22-year-old, who is on the radar of Newcastle, Real Madrid and Liverpool. The Merseyside club have struggled in the ongoing campaign because of an inconsistent midfield. Their priority heading into the summer is to sign multiple top-class midfielders. And, Thuram is a name on their transfer list.

Meanwhile, Real Madrid are one of the clubs willing to go all out for any youngster, who has the potential to make it big. Thuram seems to have those qualities. And, with the likes of Luka Modric and Toni Kroos in the twilight of their career, they are in need of new acquisitions.

However, both Real Madrid and Liverpool are behind Newcastle in the race. The Magpies are desperate to strengthen their squad in the summer. And, their owners are ready to back their manager Eddie Howe, who has done wonders at the club. Newcastle are currently third and likely to feature in the Champions League next season.  As a result, they need to add a lot of quality to their ranks.

Howe is keen on adding new midfielders into the mix. He would love to have Thuram at his disposal as the 22-year-old is a versatile player. He can feature as a central midfielder, or a defensive midfielder and can even start out wide on the wing if needed. His versatility could give Magpies an edge, and that is why they are willing to pay around £60 million.
