Mikel Arteta’s Arsenal have made an approach for the 21-year-old Vitoria Guimaraes defender Ibrahima Bamba.

According to Fussball Transfers via SportWitness, Arsenal are interested in acquiring the services of Ibrahima Bamba. The 21-year-old has gone from strength to strength of late and a lot of teams from across Europe are interested in his services.

Bamba joined Portuguese club Vitoria Guimaraes in the summer of 2020. He started off at their Under-23 set-up and has since come up through the ranks. The 21-year-old made it to their first team in the winter of 2022.

He has made a total of 39 appearances for their first team. And, Bamba has managed to make quite a name for himself in his limited opportunities. The ongoing season has seen him establish himself as a first-team regular for the Portuguese outfit.

He has featured in 32 matches in the ongoing season. While his primary role is that of a defender, the 21-year-old is well capable to feature as a defensive midfielder. Four out of his 32 appearances have come as a holding midfielder in front of the back four.

Bamba’s contract at the club runs until the summer of 2026. And, there is a €30 million release clause in his contract. Meanwhile, the 21-year-old is likely to part ways with Vitoria Guimaraes in the upcoming transfer window.

And, recent reports suggest he could make a move for just over €10 million. The Portuguese club are happy to negotiate with any club that is willing to offer over €10 million for the 21-year-old.

Meanwhile, Arsenal are keen on having him in their ranks. Mikel Arteta has done a great job at the club. However, he is expected to make a few signings in the summer to strengthen his team. He wants more depth in defence as well as the midfield.

And, given the fact that Bamba can feature both as a defender and a midfielder make him a great option for the Gunners. On top of that, he is relatively cheaper than other options.

The 21-year-old still has time on his side and he can become a great asset for Arteta’s team who are ready to push for the Premier League title again next season. And, they are also set to return to UEFA Champions League next season.
