According to a report by Spanish outlet SPORT, Mateu Alemany recently met Moussa Sissoko, the representative of Ousmane Dembele. Barcelona will look to tie the 25-year-old World Cup winner to a new contract as his market value, currently at €60 million, continues to rise.
Ousmane Dembele has enjoyed a resurgent run since Xavi Hernandez became the Barcelona boss nearly two years ago. The former Spanish international has brought the best out of the Frenchman while helping him overcome his fitness issues. And while the 2018 FIFA World Cup winner endured a long-term hamstring injury for several weeks, he has become a pivotal figure for Barcelona.
The 25-year-old has eight goals and seven assists in 30 appearances across all competitions this term. But Dembele’s long-term Barcelona future is uncertain, as he will enter the final year of his contract in July. Such a situation has left the Blaugrana in a spot of bother heading into the summer transfer window.
The uncertainty surrounding Dembele’s future has also captured the attention of several high-profile clubs. And apart from the usual suspects like Paris Saint-Germain and Chelsea, Arsenal and Newcastle United are also interested. And unlike last summer, when they let the Frenchman run down his deal, it behoves Barcelona to secure his future.
